PRESENTATIONS:

Presentation by Joy Fire

Look for Joy Fire to present a joinery video and a talk about her CBA-supported monthlong artist residency in the mountains near Telluride, Colorado.  In this residency she connected with nearby blacksmiths, and re-fired up a shop that had been dormant since the passing of its owner. She also worked with the Ah Haa School for the Arts, conducting two workshops.

Hands-On Workshops - Beginner through Intermediate

Thursday, All Day - Tool Making Workshop

Kevin Lauritsen, Ken Kuhn, Beth Homberg

We will focus on the tools you will need for the Friday-Sunday workshop projects. Instructions will include Bill Stone's kit tongs, modifying tong jaws, hot cut chisels, center punches, round punches and more.

Friday Morning - Folding Cooking Trivet

Chris Ruiz

This clever trivet design folds up neatly to pack with your camping gear, but it sturdy enough for big dutch ovens! Includes a movable riveted hinge.

Friday Afternoon - Blacksmiths Tongs

Grant Loper

Have you forged proper blacksmiths tongs from square stock - no kit, no twists? This workshop includes making sturdy rivets from bar stock.

Friday Night - Penandular Cloak Pin

David Shuford

How does a braveheart keep his plaid pinned on? With a bold forged iron penandular! The pin works via a sliding collar.

Saturday Morning - Viking Chest Hinges

Jeff Hunter

Historic, but also super useful for a toy box or tool chest. These hinges are a great introduction to connecting two bits of iron in a functional way.

Saturday Afternoon - Braided Iron Bracelets

Sharon Dodge

Make handsome wearable iron jewelry from old scraps! Lots of design riffing to play around with as you learn forge welding skills.
