    Nitzan.L silencing the ring

    Nitzan.L replied today at 6:08AM

    Hello there
take a round bar and form a ring to fit the horn at about the middle. tie it with any way you choose to the anvil’s base, flaxeble band works good so when needed ,it’s easy to remove.that should work .

    Leon Renaud silencing the ring

Leon Renaud replied on January 29

Try running a spring from the pritchel hole to your anvil stump or block. I “killed” 2 anvils this way when working at a Museum. I bent up a "T shape out of 1/8th Dia. round rod by doubling it over then opening the "T"s cross bars from that this leaves a loop in the bottom of the T to hook your spring.Drop the “T” down through the pritchel hole hook a spring of about 1 inch in dia. that you can stretch by hand into the base of the t and run it down to a staple in the side of your anvil stand. Being they were not my anvils I could not alter then in any way and doing it this way you can try this out but on my own anvil I plan to drill and tap under the heel of my anvil for an eye bolt this will leave my pritchel hole open for use you could also do the same under the horn. I’m taking for granted you have some kind of wood “pad” between your anvil and any metal anvil stand you use this also helps kill the ring. I tried old speaker magnets and they worked some but the spring stretched between anvil and stand worked best .

Hi… you use to have a registration form that we could print off from this website. Could you please do that again? I know of some blacksmiths that don’t have computers and would still like to register the ‘old’ way…. ‘snail mail’… I usually print the form for them and they send it in. Plus.. isn’t there an extra fee to register online??? Thanks, Dusty

I was always glad to see Bobby. Usually at Oktoberfest with his infectious smile and good natured humor. And always a hearty laugh and a “how’s it go’in”? You knew he liked you and was genuinely interested in how you were doing. There was nothing false about Bobby. He was your friend and you knew it. I’m gonna miss him. To his family I can only say that his was a light that shone bright. My sincere condolences to you.
